I Need Some Suggestions

I am always so envious of the beautiful pictures that my fellow bloggers take but I struggle to take really good ones. So I decided maybe a better camera would do the trick. There are so many products out there and it is so confusing trying to decide so I thought I would ask all of you for your suggestions and opinions. What kind of camera do you use? What do you like about it? What do you dislike about it? Would you recommend it to a friend? I plan on using the camera for blog pictures, product pictures for an etsy shop and family photoes. So I need something that will take great still pictures with alot of detail but also can catch the grandkids in action. All I get now is a blur as they run by or the back of their heads. I am determined to learn to take great pictures but I don't want it to be overly complicated to use. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say! Thanks so much for your help.

I'm interested in hearing what others say too. I have an old Nikon with a swivel lens and its trying to give up on me. I took it to be repaired because I like it so much, but it's too expensive. They said the swivel lens is what is causing its problems. And those aren't made anymore. That's what I liked about it! LOL!

I'll go. I have a Panasonic Lumix. I love the jitter control. I cannot press a button without moving the whole camera. It has a fantastic macro feature. The pictures I take under the light tent with special lighting for the things I'm selling are usually excellent. Natural light pictures are normally very good, too. I rarely use the flash. It has features like... uh... the thing that lets in more or less light and the thing that changes the color balance and the thing where you can choose indoor or outdoor lighting. I forget about some of the features and have never even tried most.

The only thing I don't like is certain rooms in my hose and at the shop, pictures taken in the rooms with peachy colored walls don't come out the correct color. They're too red, if I remember right. Even though I have the color thing all the way over to the blue side. I've not figured out how to correct that.

So there's one "review" for ya.

oH mY gOSh!!! I just got the camera that I have been wanting forever (at least it seems that way)It's the Nikon D70. I LOVE everything about it! I have used my brother's for 2 years to take family photos and weddings for f xswriends. I can't say enough about the camera. VERY user friendly. I haven't found anything I don't like about it. I have heard that the Canon SLRs are nice but they would rather have gotten the Nikon. Hope this helps. P.S. Thanks for following my blog. I look forward to taking some time to read yours.

I'm not that camera savvy, and NEVER read instructions so the camera I have is perfect for me. It's the Canon Powershot SX100. Nothing too fancy. I take all my blog pictures as well as the shots for my website with it. Before this one I had the Powershot A610(less expensive) and that one worked just fine for the blog and the website too. It's more about learning to use your photo editing program really well. (and I use the one that came with the camera)

It depends a lot on how much you want to spend on a camera. I went through a couple cameras and then finally invested in a good one. I have a Canon XSi. I bought mine through QVC because they let you pay for it over 4 months, interest free. I LOVE it but it was pricey but I do take photos every day for my blog so it was worth it.

Hi Peggy, it's Julie from Tattered Threads, I posted a comment above about the camera. I LOVE it! You might notice the change in the quality of photos from before Thanksgiving to now. It's all thanks to my fabulous camera. I'm having a ton of fun photographing everything!

My digital camera is old. It's an Olympus Camedia c=3020 Zoom. When my old one broke, I got another one just like it on eBay used and it's great. Thanks for signing up for my giveaway!

When I first started on eBay 11 years ago, I was taking picture with my Canon AE1, getting them developed, then scanning them into the computer. How Neanderthal!!
After a couple of years with my first digital camera (a Kodak - shudder) I finally got a Canon Powershot A80. It has two programmable settings that you can set for conditions that are typical for you, if you can find everything in the manual - the only thing I don't like about it is that the wide angle isn't wide enough, I have to get too far away from bigger things.

I have to agree with Lidy above - your photo editing program can make all the difference.

Hi Peggy :)

I have George (canon G10) that I love, but before that I had a nikon coolpix. I didn't like it, because when you turned off the flash it looked really blurry. BTW, that's the secret to taking great pictures. Turn off the flash in great lighting :)

I have a Fuji FinePix S700. I love it! It has an image stabilization feature so you don't have to set up a tripod every time. It takes fantastic close-ups, has a natural light setting, has 10X zoom & takes good night-time shots (both of the last features come in real handy for concerts). It takes good portrait pictures because it's flash adjusts for that & is very flattering. Not sure how it does on action shots as I suck at those anyway. ;o)

What don't I like about it? I'm having a hard time figuring out the aperture & shutter settings but I'm pretty certain that's operator error. I would really like to take a photography course this year.

thansk for praying for Baby Noah...it really, really means a lot to me.

Forgot to mention that it is able to take a 20 minute video...which is reallll handy w/ the grands.

I have a Canon PowerShot A80 that is several years old now and it's been a great camera. It's small and easy to carry around. It takes great pictures including really close up ones and all the pictures on my website and blog were taken with it. I can't think of anything I don't like about it. Not sure what the current model number is but I'd recommend Canon to anyone.

If you're buying a point and shoot, it's a toss-up between a Canon and a Sony - I've had great luck with both. After that, I would recommend a very quick intro class to Photoshop - very, very easy things can make your pictures look great... that's my advice! Thank you for taking part in the Feeling Stitchy Comment Expedition, and have a great holiday! :)
